| I have come to the realization that I do not like writing and I do not like theatre...so does somebody want to tell me why the hell I spent so much time doing those things... |

| Just in case you wanted to know: simplicity=impossibility, but Thoreau was right when he said that was the best way. It's ironic that some of us (me) strive for simplicity in such complicated ways. Let me draw a picture.
What it was like before I achieved any real form of awareness:

and what its like now...

No I'm not complaining...well I am, but don't take it the wrong way, I'm not whining, cause that sucks. If life were easy it'd be boring...but sometimes I wish it were a bit less hard to figure stuff out, or that the path to simplicity could be embarked upon by all of the people dear to me as a whole, because if you attempt to travel it while those close to you do not, it creates confusion and chaos which are enemies of simplicity. The reason for this is that many of our relations with each other have become complicated and tedious, and in order to strive for a simple way of dealing with each other we have to break certain rules and as a result make people close to us uncomfortable. This uncomfort leads to said confusion and chaos as they try to resolve it in a traditional, complicated way, and the other party tries to resolve it in a simple way that in actuality is the root of the complication. The options then seem to be to either accept complication or produce complication, neither of which are desirable options. The solutions, in my mind anyway, are unity and honesty. The reason that I believe honesty and unity are so good is because I think that most people are really quite likeable, but we clothe ourselves in what we think is going to make others like us, and it is this that people find unattractive because opinions of what is good differ due to the superficiality and relativity of this synthetic human-made good. The actual quality of "good" that each human posses individually is not universally likeable, but is at least more likeable than the synthetic good. So, what is it that generates the synthetic good. By definition a synthetic item must by synthesized and there must be a synthesist. I believe it is a combination of fear and our obsession with equality on a micro-societal level. You will not be equal to me, just as I will not be equal to anyone else, and anyone else will not be equal to someone else. No two human beings have an equal amount of abilities, but every human has the ability to appreciate other humans abilities. The unhealthy part of this comes when that appreciation turns into jealousy or desire. One of the causes of jealousy is a failure of communication and a break in necessary roles. We are not open with each other enough to compliment. We might think that someone is smart, sexy, or cool, but we won't tell them because of the complicated nature of our relationships, and since our perception of self is based on how we perceive others to perceive us, we go without recognizing our own qualities and only desiring what we see in others, while at the same time they may be jealous of us. The first step is to accept that some people will be more talented than us, in fact, a lot of people will be more talented than us, just as we will be more talented than a lot of people, but talent has little affect on a person's net worth. The currency we often deal in is a barter currency. What can this person do for me if I invest in them; what are the returns? But a deeper, more meaningful, and contentment producing currency is the currency of sentimentality. Call it love, romance, or whatever you want, but the more two or more people invest in each other the more their value rises to the people investing in them. The problem with these two interchanging currencies is that often times the same people get invested in over and over because they appear to have an immediate return. The people invested in feel cheap and those uninvested in feel unloved. Now we get back to the importance of simplicity. Simplicity invests in who it is with at that moment. Simplicity does not refuse any kind of sentimentality because certain requirements aren't met. Simplicity is innocence and vulnerability, but not blindness.
Practicality of all this: Beginning on the road to simplicity without communicating is just plain stupid. Simplicity itself would begin by talking to others about it, explaining itself and laying everything out in the open. If people can see the purpose for our actions then even if they don't like them they can understand them, and that avoids confusion and chaos. After that it is just a matter of changing the dynamic of relationships, which will come naturally if all parties are attempting simplicity. Now, it is impossible for all parties or even any parties to do this all the time, but that does not mean it is pointless. I am of the opinion that the more it is done, the easier it will get.
So eventually, this is what it will look like:

Peace, Grant
